A Personal Note on Healing from Amanda C....

Sometimes we long for the health of our loved ones so much that we begin to labor to heal, rather than labor to rest in the healing that Jesus already provided.  This is because of love, and is not to be criticized; however, praying from a place of peace and confidence and pre-declared victory (rather than a place of determination and hard-browed ferver) will often release OUR grip on the situation and allow the provision to flow from His hand.   We put our eyes back on Christ and His finished work, not as a means to receive, but in order to rekindle our first love, to re-establish the finality and irrevocability of His provision, to be assured again of His heart of love and loving-kindness toward us...

What to do?  Re-affirm what you know to be true from the word:

  • Jesus carried ALL of our sin and our SICKNESS (Isaiah 53, Matt 8)
  • By His stripes we WERE healed (Is 53, I Peter 2)
  • We've been redeemed from the curse of the law (Gal 3:16), which included everything listed in Deut 28 and other Old Testament references to consequences of breaking the law
  • All of the promises of God (all of them, namely those listed in Deut 28 plus many more!) are no longer yes or no, but always and only 'yes' in Christ, and we (the church) are to speak (out loud) the 'amen' (the 'let it be so') in Jesus' name (2 Corin 1)
  • We have authority to bind the things on earth that have already been bound in heaven (sickness), and to loose on earth the things that are already loosed in heaven (healing)...this is a key to the kingdom. (Matt 16)
  • Healing is the children's bread (Matt 15, Mark 7)
  • Many are sick among us simply because we discern Christ's blood for salvation, but we fail to discern his body for healing.  (I Corin 11)
  • Healing of all of our sicknesses is a benefit that we are to remember and bless the Lord for. (Psalm 103)
  • If a sin is keeping a sickness in our body, we are told to simply confess it to one another so we may be healed. (James 5)
  • We have been given authority by Christ Himself over everything that He conquered on the cross, including sin, sickness, and Satan.  If there is an afflicting spirit, we can command it to leave in Jesus' name. (Luke 10)...He says later that this is for all who would believe in the message...that as He was sent, He sends us.
  • He sent His word and healed us (Psalm 107)
  • If we believe the word in us (not believe in faith itself, but in God's specific word to us), it will continue to perform its work. (1 thess 1)
  • He will keep us in perfect peace (mind, body, soul, spirit), if our mind is stayed on Him, because we trust in Him. (Isaiah 26)
  • He wants us to prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers. (3 John 1)
  • If you believe Jesus' words, you'll do what He did (John 14), and He rebuked sickness (Peter's mother-in-law's fever).  You can rebuke specific things too.
  • There are so so many more!  Read them, meditate on them, and let them give you and your mother rest.  Let the truth, seen or unseen, overshadow you.

I feel led to give you a testimony of healing that we experienced this week.  My son woke with a very red eye before school.  We prayed, and it did not immediately go away, which was discouraging and frustrating because I knew it was against God's will and was there illegally, but I couldn't MAKE it go away, not by asking, not by rebuking, not by any of the things that usually 'work'.  He's not allowed at school with a red eye because it could possibly be pink eye.  But staying home was not an option because (1) that would (in my mind) indicate that I didn't believe that He was ALREADY healed 2000 years ago, that Christ had already born that very same redness in his own eye on the cross and because (2) I work at his school and needed to go to work!  As I continued to pray, my son said, 'Okay, Mom, it will be fine by the time we get to school.'  That was a rhema word from God (faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the rhema word of God!).  My mindset changed, and I said, 'Awesome, God is giving us a victory over pink-eye today!'.  We jumped in the car, got a few miles down the road, and when I checked his eye, it was 95% white again.  To God be the glory!

It's all about Him, His goodness, His Presence, His Son...

We overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.  Feed on the finished work and on testimonies that testify to that finished work.  Here's a good place to start:  http://www.ibethel.org/site/  Look in the bottom left of the page under 'Good News'.  These stay current and are updated almost daily.
